How can my teen get a library card?

Library cards are issued to Campbell County residents with proof of current, local address and photo ID. If these are both on a Driver's License, this is acceptable.

The first library card is free of charge to county residents. A parent/guardian signature is required for children under 18 to obtain a card with normal borrowing privileges.

Teens ages 14-17 may obtain a special limited card without a parent'/guardian signature. If a photo ID is not available, and valid contact and identification information can be verified, the teen may still obtain a limited card.

Get a Library Card for an Adult (age 18 and over) or Youth (17 and under)
Cards issued electronically are good for 60 days with full library privileges.

1. What programs do you offer in the Teen Room?

The Teen Room offers a wide variety of programs year round.

2. What technology do you offer in the Teen Room?

The Teen Room offers a wide variety of technology for teens to use year round.

3. Is there computer access in the Teen Room?: Yes, there are computers your teen may use to access the internet and to game. We also have homework computers in the Lab. The homework computers have no time limit so teens are able to spend as much time as needed on homework. There is also free public Wi-Fi.

4. What are the behavior expectations in the Teen Room?

Must be in Jr. High or High school to hang out
Inside voices
No public displays of affection
Appropriate language
Respect of staff and other library patrons
Respect for library property

5. Are food and drinks allowed in the Teen Room?: Yes, food and drinks are allowed in the Teen Room per staff discretion. Food and drinks must be in covered containers and you must clean up after yourself when finished.

6. What materials can I check out from the Teen Room?

Books – Fiction and Nonfiction

DVDs – Located in the DVD collection on the main floor
CD books and Playaway audiobooks
E-books and e-audiobooks

7. How can my teen get a library card?

8. How many items may my teen check out and for how long?

With a regular card, patrons may check out 35 items total. There is a limit of 15 DVDs per card. The check-out times are as follows:

Audio Books: 21 Days
AV Equipment: Varies
Books: 21 Days
CDs: 21 Days
Magazines: 14 Days
DVDs: 7 or 14 Days

9. What if the item I want is not available?: If the item you want is not available, you have several options. You may place the item on hold, request it through inter-library loan, or fill out a purchase request. A staff member will be able to help you with any of these options.

10. Are Young Adult e-books and e-audiobooks available to download?: Yes! Digital downloads are available through the Libby by OverDrive app. You can also download the WYLDCat mobile app to manage your account on-the-go! You may also signup your teen for an e-card. This card may be used to check out e-books and e-audiobooks and will accrue no fines.

11. Does the Teen Room offer any homework help?: Yes, the Teen Room has materials and resources available to help with your teen’s homework needs. You may ask a staff member or visit “Services/Teens” for resources and additional information.
